Organization Overview:
The mission of SquareOne Village (SOV) is to create self-managed communities of cost-effective tiny homes for people in need of housing. The organization currently manages two villages in Eugene (Opportunity Village and Emerald Village) and is in the process of developing a third village in Cottage Grove (Cottage Village). We also provide consulting services and resources to other entities looking to implement similar housing models. Our approach is committed to engaging prospective residents and the surrounding community in the process; thus SOV not only builds affordable housing, we build equity through diverse community collaborations.
Position Summary:
The project manager will collaborate with the project director to plan and implement the construction of Cottage Village, a 13-unit tiny home community for people with very low-incomes in Cottage Grove, Oregon. The position will be responsible for ensuring that all project objectives and standards are met, and for finding solutions to problems as they arise during the construction phase. This is a temporary 6-month position, with the possibility for continued work on future projects. Hours and pay for this position will be based on the applicants experience and qualifications. SquareOne Villages is a licensed contractor (CCB # 224446).
Essential Functions:
Plan and manage project scheduling and budgeting in collaboration with project director.
Seek bids from subcontractors and coordinate on-site work and inspections.
Evaluate, source, and order project materials and equipment in a timely manner.
Manage SOV’s paid carpenters, including oversight of scheduling, time sheets, and receipts.
Recruit and coordinate construction interns and volunteers in collaboration with SOV carpenters.
Ensure work quality and adherence to site safety standards and construction documents.
Document construction activities and maintain project records.
Create and distribute regular progress reports.
Essential Qualifications:
Experience in project and construction management.
Knowledge of building products, construction details, relevant codes, and quality and safety standards.
Ability to interface and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people, including community volunteers, subcontractors, architects and engineers, building officials, and SOV staff and interns.
Attention to detail with excellent organizational, team building, and problem solving skills.
